Overview
A boy meets a girl. He works at the market while she is a street prostitute. They soon develop a strong complicity that will lead them to do something desperate. In the background, a decaying and desolate metropolis.
My Role
I composed the soundtrack of the film, working side by side with the director and the sound supervisor.
Music
I came across this project during a period of self doubt and questions about the meaning of my career and personal relationships. I felt a "quiet darkness" lurking around the corner and I was looking for something that could help me explore it. I met the director of IRA, Mauro Russo Rouge, thanks to my dear friend sound designer Paolo Armao and after seeing the film he was working on I fell in love with the rarefied atmosphere of muffled emotions and distant echoes of a happiness that will never be truly achieved. IRA is a story about inner sadness and calm desperation, told through an unorthodox cinema language that privileges the use of hand held camera, natural light and long sequences without dialogues.
This project allowed me to explore a hidden world that few people know: the city at dawn. In that brief moment between night and day life we can find lost souls wandering empty streets and hear their stories.
